About the Role
CDC Construction Ltd. is seeking a Construction Estimator to support project acquisition across Metro Vancouver. The company works as a general contractor and construction manager, with a focus on healthcare, hospitality, retail, and other commercial tenant improvement projects. Its approach is grounded in integrity, fairness, care, responsibility, leadership, and collaboration.
The estimating function plays a key role in winning new work, including lump-sum bids and construction management proposals.
Responsibilities
- Build detailed cost estimates from bid packages, drawings, and project specifications.
- Review tender submissions carefully and help identify the most suitable award recommendations.
- Coordinate with engineers, architects, owners, subcontractors, and suppliers as part of the estimating process.
- Offer value-engineering input to help clients improve project outcomes and costs.
- Develop project schedules for proposed construction work.
- Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors and clients.
- Prepare and adjust budgets for construction management work across Class D to Class A stages.
- Participate in site visits for potential projects.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in construction estimating, ideally in commercial construction.
- Solid working knowledge of MS Project and Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines and work within time constraints.
Additional Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience using takeoff tools such as Bluebeam or similar software.
- Familiarity with BuildingConnected.
- Background in estimating acute healthcare projects.
