Construction Estimator

About the Role

CDC Construction Ltd. is seeking a Construction Estimator to support project acquisition across Metro Vancouver. The company works as a general contractor and construction manager, with a focus on healthcare, hospitality, retail, and other commercial tenant improvement projects. The estimating function plays a key role in winning new work, including lump-sum bids and construction management proposals.

Responsibilities

• Build detailed cost estimates from bid packages, drawings, and project specifications.
• Review tender submissions carefully and help identify the most suitable award recommendations.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, owners, subcontractors, and suppliers as part of the estimating process.
• Offer value-engineering input to help clients improve project outcomes and costs.
• Develop project schedules for proposed construction work.
• Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors and clients.
• Prepare and adjust budgets for construction management work across Class D to Class A stages.
• Participate in site visits for potential projects.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in construction estimating, ideally in commercial construction.
• Solid working knowledge of MS Project and Excel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines and work within time constraints.

Additional Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience using takeoff tools such as Bluebeam or similar software.
• Familiarity with BuildingConnected.
• Background in estimating acute healthcare projects.
