Role overview
Yaandina Community Services is seeking a Community Connectors Support Worker for a 12-month fixed-term appointment in Roebourne, Western Australia. This position focuses on providing culturally safe, trauma-informed assistance that helps strengthen the connection of Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities.
The role involves transport support, outreach, and wellbeing-focused assistance, with work carried out in partnership with local stakeholders and in line with community leadership.
Key duties
- Offer dependable, safe transport so community members can attend appointments, cultural activities, learning opportunities, and community events.
- Develop respectful, positive relationships and provide person-centred support that is culturally appropriate for clients, families, and wider community members.
- Adapt to changing community priorities, use initiative, and maintain confidentiality as well as professional conduct at all times.
Preferred requirements
- A current unrestricted Western Australian driver’s licence.
- A valid Passenger Transport Driver Authority.
- A current Working with Children Check.
- A valid National Police Clearance.
- Sound understanding of Aboriginal culture and a clear commitment to delivering culturally safe, trauma-informed support.
Preferred qualifications and experience
- Certificate IV in Community Services is an advantage, though it is not mandatory.
- Previous experience in community services or a similar support-focused role.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse groups.
Working hours
This is a Monday to Friday position, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Additional information
This role is offered on a 12-month fixed-term basis.
