Role overview
IRIS Software Group supports organisations in keeping day-to-day operations running, with a strong focus on ensuring payroll is delivered accurately and on schedule. This position is part of the Paycheck Plus team within Managed Payroll Services, where the team takes full ownership of client payroll delivery. It is not an internal payroll role; instead, it involves direct client service, high responsibility, and monthly work that has a real impact.
Why this role matters
Payroll only becomes noticeable when something goes wrong. In this position, you will be relied on to manage payrolls for several clients and ensure each one is accurate, timely, and fully compliant. Your work helps employees receive the correct pay, strengthens client confidence, and supports long-term relationships.
Team environment
You will be joining the Paycheck Plus specialist payroll bureau within Managed Payroll Services. The team includes around 10 experienced Client Payroll Executives and senior colleagues. Each team member manages their own client payroll portfolio, and support is available when needed, while still giving you ownership of your workload. The culture is built around precision, accountability, and collaboration.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee Irish payrolls end to end for multiple client accounts.
- Run monthly payroll cycles accurately and within deadlines.
- Carry out payroll calculations, deductions, benefits administration, and related reporting.
- Make sure payroll activity complies with Irish employment legislation, GDPR requirements, and internal procedures.
- Serve as the primary contact for payroll questions raised by clients and their employees.
- Develop trusted working relationships with clients through reliable delivery and communication.
- Look for opportunities to streamline processes, increase efficiency, and support automation.
- Contribute to broader initiatives such as system enhancements and testing.
What the employer is looking for
This opportunity is intended for someone who already has experience with payroll in a bureau or outsourced setting. The ideal candidate will be confident managing multiple payrolls independently and will bring a strong working knowledge of Irish payroll practices.
Required experience and skills
- IPASS qualification, or progress toward it.
- Proven experience handling Irish payroll from start to finish.
- Experience managing payrolls across multiple clients.
- Working knowledge of Sage Micropay, payroll journals, CSO returns, and employee benefits.
- Comfort using Excel and Outlook in day-to-day work.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify errors others may overlook.
- Clear, professional communication skills.
- Ability to organise your own deadlines and manage workload effectively.
- A team-oriented approach and willingness to help colleagues when needed.
What you will gain
- Ownership of your own client portfolio.
- A structured payroll environment with clear expectations and standards.
- Exposure to a broad mix of clients and payroll scenarios.
- A supportive team that understands the demands of payroll delivery.
- Opportunities to improve processes and influence how work is carried out.
- Stability and room to grow within a global software and services organisation.
Application process
The recruitment process is designed to be fair and transparent. First, candidates submit an online application with a resume and a few basic details, without lengthy forms. Next comes an initial interview with the talent team, along with two assessments: a 15-minute timed CCAT test and an untimed EPP personality questionnaire. The final stage is a competency and technical interview conducted through MS Teams with the Client Payroll Team Leaders.
Additional information
This role is based in Drogheda, Ireland and is a full-time, onsite position. It is for a payroll professional who values accuracy, compliance, and client service, and who enjoys taking responsibility for delivering high-quality work each month.
