Role summary

An opportunity is available for a Cleaning Supervisor to join the team at St Johns Shopping Centre in Liverpool. This is a practical, customer-facing position where you will work side by side with the cleaning team to maintain high standards across the centre. The role involves supervision, but it is not office-based. The ideal person will be visible, approachable, proactive and comfortable leading from the front in a busy public environment.

The role is based at St Johns Shopping Centre, St George's Place, Liverpool, L1 1LY, and reports to the Soft Services Manager & Associate Key Accounts Director.

Working hours are 38.5 hours per week on a varied rota. This is a fully flexible position, so availability across different days and shift times is required, including weekends. Shifts can start as early as 6:00 am, so dependable transport for early starts is essential. Pay is £15.25 per hour.

Key duties

• Lead the cleaning operation by working on the floor alongside the team each day.
• Keep all areas of the shopping centre clean, well presented and maintained to a high standard.
• Represent St Johns Shopping Centre in a professional, helpful and customer-friendly manner.
• Carry out routine walk-throughs to spot and resolve issues before they affect the visitor experience.
• Encourage, support and motivate team members to deliver strong performance.
• Develop good working relationships with retailers, visitors and colleagues across the site.
• Ensure cleaning work is completed safely and in line with Health & Safety and COSHH standards.
• Respond flexibly to changing operational needs, priorities and day-to-day challenges.

Experience and requirements

• Previous experience in cleaning or facilities work, including some supervisory or team leader responsibility.
• Good knowledge of cleaning standards, techniques and best practice, preferably in a retail or high-traffic setting.
• Understanding of Health & Safety rules and COSHH.
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop a team to maintain high standards.
• Strong communication skills and confidence when dealing with colleagues, management and the public.
• Ability to manage queries, complaints and conflict calmly and professionally.
• Dependable, punctual and organised, with a proactive approach to maintaining standards.
• Willingness to work flexibly, including early starts, late finishes and weekend shifts.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment while staying detail-focused.
