Role overview
This position sits within the Market department and reports to the Chief Market Officer in Doha, Qatar. The role is focused on accelerating growth for the company’s AI-powered SaaS sustainability offerings across the Middle East and other markets. It calls for a business development professional who can spot large-scale sustainability programs, create strategic alliances, and develop an indirect sales ecosystem that supports market expansion and revenue growth.
The ideal candidate should bring hands-on SaaS experience, a strong grasp of global market dynamics, and particular insight into the Middle East, sustainability shifts, and digital transformation. Success in this role depends on the ability to build partnerships, grow revenue, and operate effectively across complex partner networks.
Core responsibilities
- Study the market to uncover major sustainability programs and new opportunities, especially across the Middle East, that can be addressed through AI-based software solutions.
- Assess market movement, competitors, and customer expectations to shape business development plans, including opportunities beyond traditional utilities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders such as smart city providers, consultants, platform providers, and system integrators.
- Identify partnership opportunities that allow the company’s software products and AI assets to be embedded in third-party solutions or marketplaces.
- Build and oversee an indirect sales model that helps widen reach and increase adoption of the company’s solutions, particularly during onboarding and operational stages.
- Support partners through training and guidance so they can effectively promote and implement the company’s offerings.
- Identify stakeholders with projects or demand for AI SaaS products from the portfolio.
- Maintain a strong opportunity pipeline that supports or exceeds revenue goals in energy-related user and stakeholder segments.
- Track pipeline status and share progress reports aligned with company objectives.
- Work with product, marketing, and technical teams to ensure business development activity matches company priorities and capabilities.
- Feed market insights back into product planning and innovation efforts.
Experience and qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.
- An MBA or other advanced qualification is preferred.
- At least 5 years of business development, sales, or partnership experience in the SaaS industry.
- Practical knowledge of AI technologies and sustainability-related themes.
- A demonstrated history of increasing revenue and building strategic alliances in the Middle East.
- Experience working with smart city providers, consultants, platform providers, or system integrators is highly desirable.
Skills and competencies
- Strong understanding of SaaS and PaaS business models, including the full customer lifecycle from first contact through billing and operations.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to earn trust across varied stakeholder groups.
- Solid negotiation ability and a track record of closing deals.
- Deep knowledge of sustainability trends, digital disruption, and the Middle East market.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including clear presentations to diverse audiences.
- Comfort working in uncertain, fast-moving environments.
