About the studio
Bespoke Architecture is a well-regarded residential design practice in New Zealand with more than 17 years of experience creating tailored, high-quality spaces for clients. The studio is expanding and is seeking an Architectural Designer or Architect to join its friendly, high-performing team in Ōtautahi (Christchurch) on a full-time basis.
The role suits someone who enjoys thoughtful residential design, values collaboration, and wants to see concept ideas developed through to completion.
What you will do
- Take residential projects from early concept through to building consent, including premium custom homes and standard-plan developments.
- Work directly with clients to understand their goals and turn them into strong design outcomes.
- Prepare detailed architectural documentation using ArchiCAD, including drawings, reports, and consent-related submissions.
- Coordinate with councils, consultants, and contractors to keep work compliant and aligned.
- Contribute across the full project lifecycle, including site visits, spatial planning, and construction-phase support.
What we are looking for
- A tertiary qualification in Architecture or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in New Zealand residential design.
- Good knowledge of the NZ Building Code, NZS 3604, and ideally the requirements of Auckland, CODC, QLDC, and CCC.
- Strong ArchiCAD capability, backed by a portfolio that demonstrates detailed residential work.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and client-handling skills.
- LBP Design Licence or NZIA/ADNZ membership is welcomed, though not mandatory.
