Role Overview

This position focuses on measurement and verification work for energy savings performance contracting projects across multiple facilities. The role combines data analysis, energy reporting, field validation, and customer-facing coordination to ensure project savings are accurately tracked and documented.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and execute measurement and verification plans for energy savings performance contracting initiatives at different sites.
  • Clean, normalize, and evaluate utility datasets using regression methods and related analytical techniques.
  • Oversee baseline and pre/post installation data gathering, including trend information from building automation systems, field measurements, loggers, and performance testing.
  • Support continuous analysis of energy management system data, with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and savings assessment in coordination with the Asset Management team.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual savings reports aligned with IPMVP requirements and support customer billing activities.
  • Take part in collecting data and verifying the performance of baseline and upgraded equipment.
  • Carry out spot checks and short-duration data collection throughout the energy savings performance contracting lifecycle when needed.
  • Review energy management control system operations, sequences, and trend logs to optimize performance and confirm alignment with the M&V plan.
  • Perform field troubleshooting and data logging to confirm project performance and correct issues.
  • Develop savings analyses, reports, and presentations for customers, and explain the results clearly to them.
  • Document customer meetings, including agreed actions and follow-up items.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP) certification is mandatory.
  • Hands-on experience with building management systems is essential.
  • At least 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in a similar industry is required.
  • Background in HVAC or HVAC engineering is preferred, especially in building controls and management systems.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in engineering and energy savings calculations for performance contracting, along with practical knowledge of M&V protocols and guidelines, is expected.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of how an energy management company or ESCO operates.
  • Strong client relationship and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI and Excel, including VBA.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel, Word, SQL, Access, Outlook, and Tableau, along with programming capability.
  • Experience using building energy modeling tools such as eQUEST and EnergyPlus.
  • Solid analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and sound judgment for business problem-solving.
