What You’ll Do
In this role, you will build and maintain data models that support internal analysis, experimentation, and reporting across the business. You will work closely with product, engineering, operations, and data science partners to understand data sources, shape them into efficient analytical models, and create visual outputs that help explain performance and answer business questions.
- Improve and extend the dbt environment and related models so raw information becomes reliable, business-ready datasets for analysis of product and business performance.
- Work with both technical and non-technical partners to turn data into action.
- Help leaders understand the health of the business through internal data products.
- Take part in building, validating, documenting, and promoting core data models.
- Use tools such as Databricks, BigQuery, Airflow, Mode, and Tableau to create practical insights for internal and external stakeholders.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships that help drive results across Calm.
Who You Are
You bring hands-on experience in data modeling and in analyzing large-scale data on modern cloud platforms, with dbt being especially valuable. You are confident working in SQL, familiar with modern data stack tools, have used Python before, and can convert business needs into technical solutions while also translating technical work into business impact. You are comfortable presenting, managing relationships, and contributing to documentation and testing practices. You also bring a practical mindset that balances speed and rigor.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in data science, data engineering, or analytics engineering.
- Strong SQL skills are required.
Preferred Experience
- Background in a B2B SaaS environment, ideally within healthcare.
- Exposure to working with non-technical stakeholders in Internal Product, Finance, and Partner Sales.
- Experience in healthcare analytics.
- Experience shaping data for LLM use cases such as natural language SQL and tool calling.
Compensation and Benefits
Calm uses a location-based pay structure. For this role, the expected base salary range is $147,000 to $225,000. Final compensation depends on factors such as location, skills, experience, and other qualifications, with employee zip code used to determine the applicable pay band. The role is also eligible for equity, comprehensive benefits, a 401(k), and flexible time off.
Additional Information
Calm may use artificial intelligence to help review applications, but human reviewers are involved throughout the hiring process. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities, including disabled veterans; accommodation requests should be directed to Calm’s Recruiting team and will be handled confidentially on a case-by-case basis.
