Role overview
The Access Lead role focuses on managing access arrangements, with particular responsibility for Thames Water Operational Safety Authorisation (TWOSA) activity. The position supports internal teams, customers and suppliers by keeping access information accurate, coordinating approvals, and helping ensure work can proceed without avoidable delays.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate the Thames Water Operational Safety Authorisation process for customers, internal teams and suppliers.
- Ensure there is a valid General Maintenance TWOSA in place for all Thames Water sites needed by customers, internal teams and suppliers.
- Build and update a tracker containing current third-party access data for all sites, with special focus on TWOSAs.
- Act as the point of contact for internal stakeholders, customers, Vodafone or Telefonica representatives when valid TWOSA access is needed for a Thames Water site.
- Spot risks that could affect KPIs and flag them to the team leader so action can be taken to remove, reduce or pass on SLA risk.
- Carry out duties in line with MITIE Technical Facilities Management Ltd policies and procedures.
- Perform work to a professional standard that meets client and MITIE expectations.
- Follow health and safety policy and legislation requirements, including issuing relevant RAMS when needed.
- Oversee third-party access relationships, making sure site rules are followed and costs are tracked and escalated where necessary.
- Support the Access Lead with reporting activities.
- Check that RAMS are compliant and work with the OM and RSQA team when required.
- Escalate repeated access blockers or denials to the Access Lead.
- Manage accreditation streams as agreed with the HoSD and Business Support Manager.
- Maintain strong communication with customers, internal teams and suppliers.
- Plan ahead effectively to keep operations moving smoothly.
- Work to meet, and where possible exceed, attendance and completion SLAs.
- Stay in regular contact with the Access Lead about issues and help keep the plan as efficient as possible.
- Discuss decisions with the Access Lead relating to customers, internal teams and suppliers.

- A Level standard education, or equivalent, is desirable.
- Experience in hard services or facilities management is desirable.
