Role overview
As a Workday HCM Consultant, you will act as the link between business stakeholders and technical teams, helping resolve complex integration and system challenges across Workday environments. You will support clients through the transformation, implementation, and ongoing operations of a Workday program, while using your technical understanding to shape configurations that align with business and design needs.
Key responsibilities
- Develop deep expertise in Workday, including solution design, configuration, testing, and deployment.
- Assess client needs, budget, and timelines to recommend practical solutions, and adjust the project scope when new requirements emerge.
- Monitor project issues and risks, share progress updates, and escalate concerns as needed for all clients in your portfolio.
- Facilitate design workshops and help clients make configuration decisions grounded in best practices and their specific business processes.
- Support clients throughout each project stage and help ensure a smooth transition from legacy platforms to Workday HCM.
- Handle multiple tasks with limited supervision while keeping the client, project team, and Engagement Manager informed of changes and progress.
- Be prepared to step into a leadership role on projects, or serve as a Cognizant or Workday Product Partner Lead and/or Delivery Assurance Reviewer.
- Use hands-on product knowledge to load client data, move configurations between tenants, and set up business processes and security controls.
- Translate and map source data into conversion templates through iLoads and related conversion activities.
- Mentor other consultants and analysts, including support for shadowing assignments.
- Take part in update training and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Experience and education
- A bachelor’s degree is required, or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 2 years of Workday functional implementation experience is strongly preferred.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in Human Resources, Payroll, or Financial software is preferred.
- 2 to 5 years of experience implementing functional solutions in ERP or SaaS environments is strongly preferred.
- Experience gathering business requirements, building prototypes, testing, and delivering workable solutions under tight and multiple deadlines.
