Role overview

East Coast Civil Group is looking for an experienced Welder / Mechanic with fabrication expertise to support its civil construction operations. The position is based in Morrisville, NC and involves hands-on work across welding, mechanical repairs, and custom fabrication for equipment, trucks, and vehicles.

The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical ability, solid welding skills, and the capability to keep heavy equipment operating safely and efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.

What you will do

• Carry out welding, fabrication, and repair work on excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks, and other heavy-duty machinery.
• Identify mechanical faults in equipment and vehicles and complete repairs involving engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Review blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings to complete fabrication work accurately.
• Build custom parts, brackets, and other components to support equipment performance and improvements.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to catch issues before they cause downtime.
• Use welding gear, hand tools, and mechanical repair tools in a safe and effective manner.
• Coordinate with maintenance and operations staff to keep equipment in dependable working order.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and required protocols at all times.
• Take on other duties assigned by management as needed.

What the role requires

• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience working as a welder, mechanic, or fabricator in an industrial or heavy equipment environment.
• Good command of MIG, TIG, and stick welding methods.
• Background in repairing vehicles and heavy machinery, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Comfort using fabrication tools such as grinders, drills, and saws.
• Strong troubleshooting ability and careful attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
• Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and work in different environmental conditions.
