About the Company

Cleanaway is focused on building a more sustainable future by turning waste into usable resources and renewable energy. The business operates at scale across Australia, employing more than 10,000 people and delivering essential services to communities nationwide. It aims to be known as a highly innovative and environmentally responsible waste management leader, with strong health, safety and environment performance.

Role Overview

An opportunity has opened up for a Transport Scheduler as part of a major systems upgrade and business restructure. The role is based in Wingfield, South Australia, and involves planning and improving daily transport activity across the state. This position works in the future-operations space, handling schedules more than one day ahead before work is passed to same-day operations.

The Transport Scheduler is responsible for assigning customer work to the right routes, vehicles, and drivers, while keeping service delivery safe, compliant, and on time. The role also helps balance customer needs, operational capacity, and contract commitments, while improving asset use and reducing avoidable costs.

Key Duties

  • Build and maintain efficient day-ahead transport schedules for state operations.
  • Allocate jobs to suitable routes, fleet assets, and drivers with an emphasis on safety, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Work with operations, transport solutions specialists, customer service, sales, and fleet teams to keep service delivery reliable and responsive.
  • Coordinate with site leaders and Customer Service and Administration officers to make sure schedules are practical, accurate, safe, and aligned with fatigue management and Chain of Responsibility requirements.
  • Encourage clear communication and teamwork across operational groups to strengthen accountability and alignment.
  • Support driver engagement through well-structured route plans and timely response to operational issues.
  • Improve fleet utilisation by balancing loads, optimising routes, and cutting unnecessary travel and downtime.
  • Respond to changing conditions and shifting priorities while maintaining a high-performing, customer-focused transport function.

About You

The preferred candidate will come from a background in waste, transport or logistics, international freight, or FMCG. You should be analytical, systems-oriented, and comfortable working with fleet operations, driver management, and different vehicle types and capabilities. Experience using scheduling or route-optimisation software, such as AMCS or a similar platform, is important.

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and confident decision-making based on operational and performance data.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office capability, including pivot tables, reporting, data analysis, and presentation tools such as Power BI and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for working with planning and operations teams.
  • Highly organised with strong time management and attention to detail.
  • Able to manage several priorities at once and deliver work within tight deadlines.
  • Capable of working independently, using initiative and sound judgement.
  • Works well in teams and across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Adaptable and responsive when operational priorities change.

Why Join Cleanaway

  • Competitive salary package.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Career growth opportunities within a fast-growing Australian business.
