Role overview

This role is for an experienced Technical Lead focused on vehicle multimedia systems. The position calls for someone with practical development expertise and the ability to guide technical work across teams, solve complex issues, and coordinate with international stakeholders. The selected candidate will oversee multimedia system work from early planning through design and release, manage vendors and cross-functional teams, align software releases with vehicle milestones, handle issue triage, and help deliver reliable multimedia solutions.

Key responsibilities

Build a solid working knowledge of multimedia architecture, including head unit, navigation, voice assistant, media, SiriusXM, and connected audio components.
Own multimedia products across planning, development, launch, quality assurance, and release stages.
Coordinate vehicle milestone planning and software release timing with stakeholders, including collaboration with headquarters in Japan.
Set the development scope for the North America region based on budget, staffing, capability, and schedule realities.
Manage suppliers to keep timelines on track and reduce delivery risks.
Work with program managers and product owners to evaluate risks and support sound decisions.
Investigate in-market technical problems, especially those spanning multiple domains, and conduct deeper technical analysis when needed, such as specification review, user impact assessment, and system architecture review.
Align with quality and factory teams on vehicle milestones and create countermeasure plans for any identified issues or risks.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in vehicle multimedia development.
Strong knowledge of automotive multimedia hardware and software layers.
Advanced PowerPoint skills and strong presentation ability.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work well with different stakeholders.
Comfort working in a fast-moving environment that requires quick decisions.
Strong technical and product coordination skills to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Ability to work closely with design, software, firmware, testing, and manufacturing teams.
Strong troubleshooting ability with a focus on identifying root causes and resolving issues quickly.
Executive reporting experience is preferred.
Business-level Japanese communication skills in reading and writing are a plus, though not required.

Work schedule and conditions

This is a contract role based onsite in Plano, TX. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Some evening or weekend work may be needed depending on business demands. Specific shifts may be assigned if required. No travel is expected for this position.
