Team Lead (Hands on Software Engineer) (Typescript/Node/React/AWS)

About the role

Squiz is hiring a permanent Team Lead to join its product engineering group and help strengthen the Discovery capability across the wider Digital Experience Platform (DXP). The ideal person will come from a software engineering background and bring recent experience of integrating AI technologies and platforms into SaaS products.

This is a location-flexible opportunity open to candidates based on the east coast of Australia. The role follows a hybrid working model, giving you flexibility in where and when you work.

What you'll bring

• A bachelor’s or master’s qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar discipline, or equivalent hands-on professional experience.
• At least 5 years of practical software development experience building and supporting large-scale software products.
• Strong full-stack development capability, especially with AI tools, languages, and frameworks.
• A solid grasp of testing approaches and a proven record of applying testing strategies that improve reliability and software quality.
• Experience working in Agile or similar iterative delivery environments; most teams use Scrum, while some use Kanban.
• Good knowledge of secure coding practices, including widely recognised community standards such as OWASP.
• Prior experience leading a team of technical specialists, including software engineers.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Amazon Bedrock.
• Working knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS) and/or Digital Experience Platforms (DXP).

Day-to-day responsibilities

• Guide an engineering team in delivering AI capabilities across the Digital Experience Platform.
• Partner with the AI Product Manager to shape and execute the AI product roadmap.
• Build and improve resilient application code that satisfies technical requirements.
• Work with colleagues to define user stories, acceptance criteria, and estimates.
• Support junior engineers and provide help and direction to senior engineers where needed.
• Produce and maintain software documentation.
