Survey Technician

About the Opportunity

An established multi-disciplinary consultancy in Manukau is seeking an experienced Survey Technician for an immediate start. This is a temporary assignment covering extended leave, ideal for someone who can work independently, move quickly on site, and contribute without the need for close supervision. The work will span a variety of land development and general surveying projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Carry out field surveying work on your own, including cadastral, construction, topographic, precise levelling, as-built, and HIRB surveys.
• Use 12d and Landonline to complete office-based calculations and data processing.
• Operate and look after survey equipment such as GPS units, Total Stations, and Robotic Total Stations.
• Record quality assurance checks accurately for all field activities and follow site health and safety requirements at all times.
• Coordinate with project managers and other teams to produce drawings, reports, and client deliverables to a high standard.

What We’re Looking For

This role is not designed for training. The right person should be ready to contribute from day one and bring strong hands-on experience in the field.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently on survey jobs without close guidance.
• Practical experience with 12d software and Landonline.
• Strong background in land development surveying, along with good maths and computer skills used in modern surveying work.
• Clear communication skills for working with internal engineering and planning teams, as well as outside stakeholders.
