Role overview
McCann New Zealand is seeking a motivated Social Media Manager to become part of the Group Social team in Auckland. This position is suited to someone who genuinely enjoys the pace and creativity of social media and is eager to shape work that connects with audiences in meaningful ways.
The ideal candidate is a digital-native thinker who keeps a close eye on emerging formats, platform shifts, and cultural trends. You will be responsible for guiding social work from the original brief through to execution and reporting, while partnering with account management and creative colleagues to deliver both always-on activity and campaign-based projects.
In this role, you will also help coordinate the release of social content and creative assets, keeping clients, media agencies, and other stakeholders informed throughout the process. The team is looking for someone who can act as a dependable advisor, champion strong ideas, and help raise the standard of work both internally and externally.
Key responsibilities
- Lead social media projects from briefing through to delivery and final performance reporting.
- Work in close collaboration with account managers and creative teams on ongoing clients and campaign initiatives.
- Plan and oversee the distribution of social content and creative deliverables.
- Keep media partners, clients, and other stakeholders updated at every stage.
- Monitor social and broader digital trends, especially emerging platform features and short-form video formats.
- Support paid social planning and execution across major ad platforms.
- Provide informed advice that strengthens the quality and effectiveness of social output.
- Contribute to a fast-moving, high-standard team environment with a focus on standout creative work.
What you should bring
- At least 2 years of experience in a social media or digital marketing environment.
- A strong grasp of social media as a marketing channel, including both advertising and public relations applications.
- Proven ability to manage social channels and produce engaging content.
- Confidence working under pressure and responding quickly to tight deadlines.
- Practical experience with paid social buying and business manager tools.
- Familiarity with Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, and TikTok Ads Manager.
- Strong interest in TikTok trends and short-form vertical video performance.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and CapCut is an added advantage.
