Role

The Speech & Language Scientist position is a specialist research role dedicated to advancing speech and language technologies. It connects research with practical development and supports innovation in areas such as automatic speech recognition, natural language understanding, text-to-speech, and conversational AI.

Responsibilities

• Carry out advanced research in speech and audio technologies, covering speech recognition, speech synthesis, audio enhancement, speaker identification, and spatial audio.
• Investigate, design, build, and validate new speech and audio processing methods using machine learning, signal processing, and computer vision techniques.
• Work closely with software engineers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to turn research outputs into usable products.
• Raise the performance and reliability of models and algorithms, and coordinate with different teams to resolve implementation issues efficiently.
• Identify business use cases where AI can improve client operations and overall efficiency.
• Create, assess, refine, and optimize algorithms and models for audio applications such as speech recognition, text-to-speech, and speaker recognition.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field with a strong emphasis on speech and audio processing, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• A demonstrated history of research work in speech or audio processing, backed by publications in respected peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
• Strong command of machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, along with programming skills in Python, C++, or comparable languages.
• Deep understanding of signal processing methods and deep learning approaches used in speech and audio problems.
• Experience handling large datasets and working with distributed computing environments.
• Publication record in venues such as CVPR, ECCV, NIPS, ICASSP, and Interspeech, among others.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with real-time audio systems or products used in AR/VR, accessibility, or social interaction platforms.
• Exposure to multilingual or low-resource speech recognition methods.
• Background in self-supervised or unsupervised learning for speech and audio representations.
• Knowledge of privacy-preserving methods for audio data processing.
• Prior experience mentoring junior researchers or coordinating collaborative research projects.
