About the company
Future Secure AI is a fast-growing frontier AI company created with the backing of one of the world’s largest financial institutions. The team combines startup pace with enterprise-scale support to build autonomous AI co-workers that can reason, act, and collaborate alongside people to improve organizational performance. The business works with global enterprises across several industries and has direct access to senior leadership and an expanding network of international partners.
The culture is built around courage, rigor, and curiosity. Leadership is hands-on and approachable, and the company places strong emphasis on employee growth, with the belief that long-term success depends on developing strong people. This role is for someone who wants to work on meaningful problems with advanced technology in a high-caliber environment.
The opportunity
As a senior data science leader, you will help design and deliver agentic AI systems, multi-step reasoning workflows, and enterprise-ready autonomous applications. The role focuses on architecting and deploying LLM-powered agents that can plan, use tools, make decisions, and operate safely and reliably at scale.
You will also influence the technical direction of the platform, support the development of junior team members, and help ensure the company’s AI systems are robust, aligned, and capable of producing strong business outcomes in complex settings.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and launch agentic systems driven by large language models, including planning, tool use, workflow orchestration, and reasoning functions.
- Use machine learning and advanced analytics to support decision-making inside autonomous AI co-workers.
- Improve reasoning quality, context handling, and overall agent performance in real enterprise scenarios.
- Drive MLOps work across evaluation, benchmarking, safety, and quality assurance for autonomous systems.
- Set direction for future agentic AI frameworks, governance standards, and scalable deployment approaches.
- Work closely with engineering, product, and executive stakeholders to build production-grade AI co-workers for global clients.
- Guide and mentor junior data scientists, helping raise scientific and engineering standards across the team.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative field.
- Strong track record of delivering machine learning solutions with measurable impact in complex environments.
- Solid NLP background, including transformers, LSTMs, CNNs, topic modelling, and supervised NLP methods.
- Practical experience with LLM orchestration tools such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, as well as RAG, multi-agent systems, or tool-calling architectures.
- Strong programming ability in Python for ML/AI work, plus familiarity with additional languages.
- Software development experience is highly preferred; exposure to TypeScript is ideal, or at minimum a willingness to learn it.
- Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong ownership mindset, humility, curiosity, and comfort working in a fast-changing environment.
- Must be able to attend the Sydney CBD office 1–2 days each week.
Why join
- Work in a high-performance environment with ambitious standards.
- Use modern, state-of-the-art technology.
