Graduate programme overview
This UK graduate programme is a two-year development path designed to help early-career engineers build broad capability and confidence. The experience is practical and project-based, offering direct exposure to consulting engineering, opportunities to work on significant projects, and guidance from experienced professionals as you progress toward your career goals.
Who this opportunity is for
The programme is aimed at ambitious final-year students and recent graduates with degrees in civil, structural, geotechnical, or construction engineering. The ideal candidate is curious, collaborative, and eager to tackle real engineering challenges.
The team is looking for people who bring more than academic ability alone: strong communication, analytical thinking, and a genuine interest in shaping the built environment are all important.
Application stages
The hiring process begins with a short online application, where candidates are asked to submit a tailored CV and explain their interest in engineering and in Robert Bird Group.
Shortlisted applicants are then invited to an in-person assessment day, which includes group exercises, written tasks, and an introduction to the business.
Those who progress will attend an interview that may include technical or scenario-based questions, along with a brief task.
The company aims to share final results within 10 working days after the last interview. Successful candidates will then be supported through the next steps into the graduate programme.
What the role offers
Robert Bird Group offers a fast-moving working environment with a range of employee benefits, including birthday leave, corporate health insurance rates, paid parental leave, recognition awards, and an active social club. The workplace also supports a healthy work-life balance and provides a collaborative, encouraging team atmosphere.
Reasonable adjustments
The company is committed to an inclusive recruitment experience and can provide support or adjustments where needed, including alternative application formats. Candidates are encouraged to request any assistance that would help them take part in the process comfortably and confidently.
Agency notice
Unsolicited CVs or resumes sent directly to the organisation or to staff email accounts are treated as the property of SJ Group, and no agency fees will be paid for such submissions.
To be recognised as an authorised recruitment agency or search firm, there must be a formal written agreement in place, and the agency must also be invited by the Recruitment Team to put forward candidates for specific vacancies.
The organisation thanks applicants and agencies for their cooperation and understanding.
