About Workstream

Workstream is a purpose-built HR, payroll, and hiring platform designed for businesses that employ hourly workers. The company focuses on a workforce segment that represents 2.7 billion people, or about 80% of the global labor market, and aims to bring better technology to an area that has historically been under-supported. Workstream serves well-known brands across several industries, including Burger King, Carl's Jr./Hardee's, IHOP, KFC, and Culvers. It is a fast-growing Series B company backed by investors and industry leaders such as Founders Fund, BOND, and Coatue.

Role Overview

Workstream is hiring a driven, hands-on, and execution-oriented Special Projects Recruiter to lead large-scale recruiting for one of its key operational efforts: expanding the Video Contributor contractor program. The position centers on high-volume hiring, with an immediate emphasis on growing in-office Video Contributor recruiting in Menlo Park while also helping with domestic and international contractor hiring as business needs change.

This is a fast-moving, high-priority role for someone who can build scalable recruiting systems quickly, create strong candidate flow through inventive sourcing, and maintain disciplined execution across the hiring funnel. The recruiter will collaborate closely with recruiting, operations, project managers, and on-site teams to support aggressive production targets.

The position is based in Menlo Park and requires working from the office 4 to 5 days per week. It also involves frequent collaboration with the co-founders.

What Makes This Role Unique

This is not a standard steady-state recruiting position. It is a builder role focused on helping Workstream scale a critical special initiative quickly. The successful candidate will act as both a strategist and an operator, creating sourcing engines, improving systems, and delivering results against ambitious hiring goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full recruiting cycle for large-volume Video Contributor contractor hiring, with an emphasis on Menlo Park-based in-office roles.
  • Create and refine sourcing strategies across Workstream, Indeed, and other hiring platforms to increase applicant volume quickly.
  • Build inventive sourcing approaches for hourly and contractor talent to support aggressive hiring demand.
  • Handle large candidate pipelines from initial sourcing through screening, interview scheduling, offer steps, and onboarding coordination.
  • Work closely with internal project leads, recruiters, and cross-functional partners to keep hiring aligned with production objectives.
  • Coordinate with People Ops to support a smooth and timely onboarding experience.
  • Spot bottlenecks in the hiring funnel and improve conversion through better job posts, candidate communication, and process design.
  • Manage hiring logistics across multiple stakeholders, including on-site teams, contractor managers, and international hiring support when needed.
  • Monitor recruiting metrics, hiring speed, and source performance to improve results over time.
  • Help create recruiting workflows and systems that can grow from current needs to much larger hiring volumes.
  • Support urgent hiring initiatives, surges in demand, and recruiting experiments as project requirements evolve.
  • Assist with other U.S. requisitions and contribute to sourcing and other recruiting activities as needed.

Requirements

  • 3 to 7+ years of recruiting experience, ideally in high-volume, hourly, contractor, or operational recruiting.
  • A strong track record of scaling hiring quickly in fast-paced or uncertain environments.
  • Experience finding candidates through job boards, marketplaces, and less traditional sourcing channels.
  • Ability to manage large candidate pipelines with strong operational discipline.
  • Comfort working quickly, solving issues in real time, and acting with urgency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organization and close attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across recruiting, operations, and project teams.
  • Experience improving recruiting processes, workflows, or systems.
  • High sense of ownership and commitment to hitting ambitious hiring goals.
  • Willingness to work onsite in the Menlo Park office five days a week, or at least 4 to 5 days per week as required by the role.

Nice to Have

  • Background in staffing, marketplaces, BPO, or large-scale contractor recruiting.
  • Experience recruiting for content creation, media operations, or contributor-based programs.
  • Familiarity with hourly workforce hiring and high-volume sourcing channels.
  • Exposure to international hiring or globally distributed contractor programs.
  • Experience with recruiting operations, ATS improvement, or recruiting analytics.
  • Startup recruiting or special projects recruiting experience.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000 per year in Menlo Park, in line with California pay transparency requirements. This amount does not include any discretionary bonus or equity. Final compensation is based on several factors, including skills, experience, job scope, and current market data.
