Role Overview

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is looking for a Railroad Flagger in Valdosta, Georgia. This is a full-time, field-based position reporting to the District Manager. The role exists to help protect crews working on or near railroad tracks by managing train traffic and applying federal safety standards. The work may support large railroads, short lines, transit agencies, state rail projects, and outside contractors.

Compensation and Travel

The pay range for this position is $25 to $37 per hour, with the final rate depending on experience. Travel is part of the job and should be expected about 50% to 85% of the time on average. In some cases, assignments may require extended travel lasting months.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will help coordinate on-site activities, keep communication flowing between dispatchers, train crews, railroad personnel, and contractors, and start each shift with safety briefings. You will be expected to uphold railroad, state, and federal rules, confirm that contractors complete required training, identify and correct rule violations, prepare daily activity reports, and maintain on-track safety in line with federal regulations.

Background and Experience Needed

NRSS is seeking someone with at least 2 years of experience in a Class 1 railroad, regional short line, transit system, state DOT rail division, railroad supplier, railroad contractor, or railroad consulting environment, ideally within the Maintenance of Way department.
