Role Summary
This is a full-time, on-site role in Coimbatore for a Quantity Surveyor. The position is responsible for preparing and checking bills of quantities, supporting cost planning during both design and execution, and maintaining tight control over project costs from start to finish. The role requires ongoing tracking of spend, preparation of cost updates, verification of contractor and supplier claims, and support for tender reviews. It also involves working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to share reliable cost information, spot deviations, and suggest corrective measures. In addition, the role includes keeping project records current and helping refine internal cost management practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and validate bills of quantities for construction and infrastructure projects.
- Support cost planning activities during design and execution phases.
- Monitor project spending and maintain effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Create cost reports, variance analyses, and forecast updates for stakeholders.
- Review contractor and supplier claims to confirm accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in evaluating tenders and providing cost-related inputs for decision-making.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to share cost data and highlight deviations.
- Recommend corrective actions when variances from budget or plan are identified.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of internal cost management processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong understanding of cost control and cost management across project stages.
- Hands-on experience with BOQ preparation and cost planning.
- Ability to produce cost reports, financial updates, and variance analysis.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel and cost management or ERP tools.
- Strong numerical ability and analytical thinking.
- Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Prior exposure to construction or infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Clear communication skills, strong attention to detail, and comfort working with cross-functional on-site teams in Coimbatore.
