Role overview
Buffalo Rock Company is hiring a Quality Control Support team member for its COR Quality Control department in Birmingham, Alabama. This regular, non-exempt position reports to the Sanitation Supervisor and supports the quality control function through a mix of sanitation, housekeeping, recycling, line support, and food safety-related duties.
Work schedule
This role follows a 12-hour red-day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The schedule may require working nights, weekends, and holidays to keep plant operations running smoothly. Travel is not required.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain clean floor areas inside and outside the plant using brooms and hoses.
- Collect trash from plant grounds, including the parking lot.
- Clean floor drains and screens when needed.
- Empty and clean the recycling hopper and return it to the assigned location.
- Sort recyclable material and place it into the correct compactor or crusher.
- Empty trash containers throughout the plant.
- Remove trash and mop floors in the manufacturing office areas.
- Keep lunchrooms and restrooms clean and stocked.
- Move pallets of beverages as needed.
- Train on production lines to learn machines and job tasks, support advancement, and cover breaks or absences.
- Stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Operate a floor scrubber as needed to clean floors.
- Paint catwalks, machinery, walls, and similar surfaces when required.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Program (GMP) requirements under CFR Title 21, Section 110.
- Take part in food safety training provided by the company and report any possible food safety concerns.
- Complete other duties assigned by management.
Additional responsibilities and expectations
- Demonstrate ethical and moral conduct at work and when representing the company off-site during or after working hours.
- Continuously improve skills by using company-provided training, including online and in-house programs, and complete assigned training successfully.
- Take reasonable precautions to prevent damage, theft, or other liabilities affecting the company.
- Take reasonable precautions to protect employee-partners, self, customers, company property, and customer property.
- Honor commitments and follow through on business obligations.
Work environment and physical requirements
The role is performed indoors in an environment that is not environmentally controlled. The position involves frequent standing and walking, along with other physical activities such as reaching, bending, climbing, and lifting. The job may require movement of items weighing up to 50 lbs in some cases, and pushing or pulling loads within the stated ranges. It does not involve sitting as a regular activity.
Education and experience
A high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency certificate is preferred. No prior experience is required.
