About Higher Heights

Higher Heights is a national organization focused exclusively on building Black women’s political power to help elect Black women, shape elections, and move progressive policy forward.

The organization operates through Higher Heights for America, a 501(c)(4), and Higher Heights Leadership Fund, a 501(c)(3). Both entities are expanding and reorganizing their teams for continued growth.

Role Summary

The Programs and Political Manager supports the organization’s political intelligence work, candidate pipeline management, and partnership development. This person helps translate political research, polling insights, and electoral analysis into practical strategy, messaging, endorsements, and resource decisions.

The role is well suited to someone who is politically informed, highly analytical, and motivated by increasing representation across all levels of government.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor political activity at the local, state, and federal levels, including election calendars, new opportunities, redistricting effects, and broader shifts in the political environment, under the direction of the National Programs and Political Director.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of priority states, contests, and offices within Higher Heights’ focus areas.
  • Prepare timely memos, briefing notes, and alerts for the HH PAC, executive leadership, and staff.
  • As needed, track legislation, electoral developments, and movement-building opportunities affecting Black women voters, elected officials, candidates, and potential higher-office contenders.
  • Manage and use the candidate pipeline database strategically, using sound judgment to assess, rank, and track prospective candidates, current candidates, and alumni in line with organizational priorities.
  • Research candidate viability, political conditions, and the surrounding support ecosystem.
  • Assist the National Programs and Political Director with candidate vetting and the preparation of briefing materials for leadership and HH PAC.
  • Help onboard candidates and support ongoing engagement so that they remain well-resourced.
  • Support leadership development and training programming.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to plan and execute member and stakeholder engagement through virtual and in-person activities such as volunteer opportunities, GOTV efforts, and election-night events.
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of political, demographic, and voter data to shape organizational strategy.
  • Create dashboards and reports that highlight trends, candidate progress, and overall landscape conditions.
  • Provide strategic oversight of the #BlackWomenRun database, ensuring data is accurate, aligned across systems, and usable for decision-making.
  • Work with Communications, Development, and the Office of the President so that landscape intelligence informs messaging, training, and organizational strategy.
  • Support endorsements, resource allocation, and other cross-functional needs through research and analysis.
  • Offer guidance on targeting, district context, and competitiveness for priority races.
  • Contribute to multi-year political and program planning, including goals and performance metrics.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with partner groups, political professionals, party committees, and community stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration around information sharing, third-party tools and platforms, and resource allocation analysis.
  • Keep communication flowing clearly between candidates, internal teams, and external partners.

Qualifications

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in political campaigns, political data and analytics, advocacy, or electoral strategy.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. electoral systems, political dynamics, and campaign operations.
  • Hands-on experience with political research, data analysis, or voter file tools such as Airtable.
  • Strong writing ability with the capacity to produce concise political briefs, memos, and analytical materials.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle several priorities at once.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with comfort working alongside candidates and senior leaders.
  • Commitment to expanding representation and supporting candidates from historically underrepresented communities.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary range: $65,000 to $70,000, depending on experience.
  • Full benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Paid time off, holidays, and support for professional development.
  • Flexible, remote-friendly work setup.
