Overview
A leading tier-one civil engineering contractor is seeking a Planner to support a major infrastructure programme in the Inverness / Elgin area. The role is permanent and requires the ability to work in the region during the week, with relocation support available. This opportunity sits within a business delivering projects that support everyday life and the shift toward a greener future.
The position reports to the Planning Manager and offers the chance to work on a landmark UK energy project alongside experienced industry professionals. It is well suited to someone who has moved into planning from site-based roles such as engineer, agent, or project manager and has already built at least two years of planning experience.
Role responsibilities
- Create, update, and control detailed construction programmes from tender stage through to project completion.
- Make sure programme content follows the required planning processes and guidance.
- Review the critical path, along with project risks and opportunities, and report findings clearly.
- Help delivery teams with sequencing, resource planning, and tracking performance.
- Prepare planning outputs such as schedules, reports, planning strategy documents, and KPI information.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and outside stakeholders to help keep the project moving successfully.
Experience and requirements
- Demonstrable experience working as a Planner on civil engineering projects.
- Prior hands-on site experience moving into planning is preferred.
- Working knowledge of planning tools such as Primavera P6, Asta, or MS Project.
- Good understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and resource planning.
- Strong analytical ability, communication skills, and stakeholder management capability.
- At least 2 years of planning experience is expected.

- Salary in the range of £60,000 to £70,000, depending on experience.
