Role Overview

Good Spirit School Division 204 is seeking a permanent, full-time Security Person for Yorkton Regional High School in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada. The position is focused on maintaining the care, welfare, safety, and security of students and staff.

Key Duties

  • Build constructive rapport with students and demonstrate respectful conduct so that tense situations can be calmed effectively when needed.
  • Handle disruptive, aggressive, or uncontrollable behaviour in a professional and effective manner.
  • Keep school-related concerns and sensitive information limited to the appropriate staff members.
  • Watch vehicles on school property and issue tickets for illegal parking.
  • Patrol hallways, inspect washrooms, and report any violations of school rules.
  • Observe student and traffic movement while buses are loading and report any incidents or infractions.
  • Maintain clean school grounds by removing garbage.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of security operations and standard procedures.
  • Ability to conduct regular patrols.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Basic computer literacy and writing ability.
  • Security Guard Certificate or Licence is an advantage.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is an advantage.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay is governed by the CUPE 4784 Collective Agreement. The successful applicant will be paid monthly at an hourly rate of $21.00 to $23.44, plus applicable vacation pay. Eligible employees may also receive access to the Saskatchewan School Board Association (SSBA) Employee Benefits Plan and the Municipal Employees' Pension Plan (MEPP), along with opportunities to attend professional development seminars.

Background Check Requirement

Applicants who are not currently employed by GSSD must provide a recent criminal record check and vulnerable sector check, dated within the last six months, and acceptable to the Board of Education before an employment offer can be made.
