About the Employer
The Villa is a 19th-century country house hotel in Wrea Green that combines period character with contemporary comfort. It is known for welcoming service, quality dining, and a strong reputation for weddings, functions, and memorable overnight stays.
After a recent acquisition by local entrepreneur David Haythornthwaite, the business is entering a new growth phase with plans for further investment. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a developing hospitality team at one of Lancashire’s well-known destination venues.
Role Summary
The Night Porter is responsible for keeping guests safe, secure, and well looked after during overnight hours. The position is varied and practical, involving guest support, security routines, check-in and check-out activity, preparation for the next day, and assistance with early operations. It is a role where independence, judgement, and reliability are essential.
Key Duties
- Greet and assist guests arriving late in a courteous and professional way.
- Process overnight check-ins and check-outs as required.
- Conduct routine internal and external patrols to help maintain safety and security.
- Deal with guest questions and room service requests in a prompt manner.
- Support early-morning preparation for breakfast service or events.
- Complete light cleaning tasks in shared and public areas.
- Carry out night audit checks and prepare a clear handover for the morning shift.
- Follow hotel procedures when responding to alarms or emergency situations.
- Make sure doors, exits, and windows remain secured through the night.
- Assist with event setup when needed.
- Provide support at the company’s other location, Mill Farm Sports Village, if required.
Candidate Profile
The ideal person will be dependable, proactive, and comfortable working on their own for long stretches of time. A calm attitude, good attention to detail, and a friendly, professional manner are important for success in this role.
