MEP Engineer

Role overview

An experienced Site MEP Engineer is needed to lead and coordinate Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing works across the full construction process. The role focuses on ensuring that installations match approved drawings, project specifications, relevant codes, quality expectations, and the project timeline while working closely with consultants, contractors, and other disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee site MEP activities and confirm that execution aligns with approved drawings, specifications, and contractual obligations.
• Examine shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and supporting technical documents for MEP works.
• Work with civil, structural, architectural, and other teams to avoid clashes and keep the project moving smoothly.
• Carry out frequent site checks to assess installation quality, workmanship, and adherence to required standards.
• Track contractor progress and make sure MEP works stay on schedule and meet milestone targets.
• Identify technical challenges and propose practical engineering solutions to protect project progress.
• Ensure all work follows local rules, international standards, health and safety expectations, and QA/QC procedures.
• Review and witness testing, commissioning, and functional checks of MEP systems.
• Prepare and verify inspection requests, test reports, snag lists, punch lists, and final close-out records.
• Attend coordination meetings and provide technical guidance, progress updates, and recommendations.
• Check as-built drawings and confirm finished installations before handover.
• Assess technical variations, change orders, and site changes when needed.
• Keep accurate records of inspections, approvals, test results, and site progress.
• Assist with the commissioning and handover of all MEP systems.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or MEP Engineering and bring at least 10 years of experience supervising MEP works on construction sites. Experience across commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects is required. Strong technical knowledge is expected in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical power, lighting, low-current systems, and building services. Familiarity with local and international building codes, MEP standards, and accepted engineering practices is important. Professional registration or a relevant accreditation is preferred.

Technical skills

Proficiency is needed in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office. The role also requires the ability to review coordinated MEP drawings, BIM models, shop drawings, and technical submissions. Knowledge of testing and commissioning, QA/QC workflows, and inspection procedures is essential. Experience with project management or document control software will be an advantage.
