Role overview
In this Medical Receptionist position, you will be the first point of contact at the clinic and a key part of creating a positive patient experience. The role combines warm, professional customer service with strong administrative support, helping patients through each step of their care while assisting the clinical team in delivering cardiology services.
Key duties
- Welcome patients, referrers, and visitors in a courteous, caring, and professional manner.
- Run the reception desk day to day by handling incoming calls, answering queries, and organising patient appointments.
- Arrange consultation appointments, diagnostic tests, and hospital admission bookings while keeping diaries well managed and clinic capacity used efficiently.
- Complete all administrative work accurately, promptly, and in line with practice procedures.
- Maintain patient files and records with a strong focus on accuracy and detail.
- Assist the clinical team with ECGs and cardiac monitor fittings; full training will be provided.
- Work closely with the broader team to support excellent patient care and smooth clinic operations.
What you need
- Strong commitment to patient care and high-quality customer service.
- Prior experience in medical reception, administration, or a customer service role.
- Ability to work on your own as well as within a busy team setting.
- Excellent organisation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional, confident telephone manner and the ability to deal with a range of patient enquiries.
- Solid computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, plus the ability to learn practice software quickly.
- Willingness to travel between clinics when needed; a current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle are considered an advantage.
