Role overview

This position is for a Material Controller based in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, and reporting to the Warehouse Planner within the Warehouse Management team. The role focuses on keeping material movement accurate, protecting inventory integrity, and improving warehouse performance for the manufacturing function.

The team owns end-to-end control of material flow, stock verification, system discipline in SAP, and warehouse automation efforts that improve efficiency in handling and disposition. As the material controller, you will act as the main contact for process and system audits, drive inventory accuracy, and coordinate with multiple functions to support SQCDM objectives. The role also requires willingness to travel across India.

Key responsibilities

  • Run periodic cycle counts on quarterly, half-yearly, and annual cycles, and carry out root cause analysis to improve accuracy across GRN, IQC, and RTV transactions.
  • Ensure timely handling of QC failures and RTV-related material disposition, and escalate inventory that remains aging for more than 30 days.
  • Track daily COGI reports and update SAP in real time so that system consumption matches completed production.
  • Control non-moving stock through regular analysis, liquidation follow-ups, and quarterly reporting for non-BOM and NG materials.
  • Support automation and digitisation projects that reduce manual dependence and strengthen warehouse SOPs and work instructions.
  • Work with Finance and Industrial Engineering on budgets, manpower planning, work-content studies, and plant layout approvals.
  • Support internal and external audits of the warehouse and close non-conformances on time with suitable CAPA actions.
  • Build team capability, conduct safety training, and manage stakeholders so warehouse execution stays aligned with long-term plans.

Required background and competencies

The role requires a B.Tech degree and 6 to 9 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate should be comfortable leading inventory-control practices, managing end-to-end P2P workflows, and driving Industry 4.0 style improvements through automation and digital tools.

Strong stakeholder management is essential, along with the ability to work across functions and with external vendors. Experience using SAP for inventory control and transaction accuracy, JIRA for project tracking, and Google Workspace for reporting and collaboration will be helpful. Clear presentation and communication skills are also important for sharing KPIs and audit outcomes with leadership.
