Manager (Operations Planning & Control)

Role overview

This role is focused on bringing together intelligence from varied sources to build a clear picture of the fast-changing information environment and to sense public opinion on matters of interest. The work supports timely communications and operational responses in sensitive or high-pressure situations.

Key duties

• Review and interpret information gathered from different channels to spot emerging patterns, shifts, and possible concerns.
• Carry out opinion sensing on selected topics and issues.
• Prepare public-facing communication responses for sensitive matters.
• Design and coordinate communication plans for crisis situations.
• Collaborate with other agencies during major incidents.
• Track developments in both local and overseas information spaces.
• Run tailored operations intended to safeguard the organisation’s reputation.

What the employer is seeking

The preferred candidate should have academic grounding in Communication Studies, Political Science, or Social Sciences. Prior exposure of at least 2 years in journalism, media, public relations, or corporate communications is considered an advantage, although candidates without experience may still be considered. Strong written and verbal English is important, and knowledge of a vernacular language would be an added advantage. The role also calls for solid analytical ability, good communication skills, independence, teamwork, and a keen interest in Singapore’s media, political, defence, and security landscape. A good grasp of Singapore’s media environment, along with an assertive, careful, and detail-focused approach, is desirable. The position requires readiness for rotational duties and for working irregular hours on short notice. Appointment terms will depend on the candidate’s experience.
