About the role
Streem is a leading media intelligence platform across Australia and New Zealand, tracking coverage in print, digital, television, radio, podcasts, and social media for high-profile organisations. Its Insights function converts large volumes of media activity into tailored reports that help communications leaders guide strategy, brief executives and boards, and assess impact.
This opening is an entry-level opportunity within media analytics, designed for someone who wants to build hands-on experience while being supported by experienced analysts. The role is focused on turning media coverage into clear, useful insight for clients.
What you will do
- Review media items and assign sentiment consistently across articles, broadcasts, and social posts.
- Create and refine boolean search strings so the right coverage is captured and irrelevant results are filtered out.
- Prepare and refresh charts using data visualisation tools for inclusion in client reports.
- Work with senior analysts to identify key takeaways and help draft concise summaries and insights.
- Maintain accurate data and ensure report templates are set up correctly for new clients and kept up to date for existing ones.
- Take part in team review sessions and contribute ideas to improve reporting quality and processes.
What the team is looking for
The ideal candidate has a background in media, communications, journalism, marketing, or a similar discipline, plus some exposure to research or analysis through university work, placements, internships, student journalism, or personal projects. You should have a strong interest in news and media, especially the Australian media landscape, and be comfortable working with data and spreadsheets. Clear, executive-level writing is important, as is the ability to work to deadlines, stay organised, and ask questions early when needed.
Additional information
This role is remote-first and offers flexibility. The team welcomes applicants with different strengths and backgrounds, and encourages people not to rule themselves out if they do not meet every listed requirement. The position is suited to someone who enjoys keeping up with the news cycle, can work well in quieter periods, and wants to grow in a team that values curiosity and analytical thinking.

- Remote-first setup with flexible working.
- Catered lunches and access to a fully stocked snack bar.
- Extra leave benefits, including paid birthday leave, wellbeing days, volunteering leave, and more.
- Annual upskilling support worth $3,000.
- $2,000 referral scheme, corporate discounts, and novated leasing options.
