In this role, you will work side by side with investment teams to help ensure trades and portfolio holdings comply with client-specific investment rules and regulatory standards. The position is well suited to someone who is analytical, meticulous, and interested in growing within investment operations and compliance in a fast-moving, team-oriented setting.
Engagement Details
This is a contract assignment expected to run for 6 to 12+ months. Compensation is offered at $30 to $40 per hour, based on experience, and the role follows a 40-hour workweek. The position uses a hybrid work arrangement in Boston.
Key Responsibilities
You will review Investment Management Agreements to understand, document, and apply client guideline requirements. The role also involves keeping investment restrictions current in the firm's Sentinel guideline monitoring system, supporting pre-trade checks for investment professionals, and researching and resolving compliance breaks that appear after trades are executed. In addition, you will coordinate with Investment Operations, Portfolio Management, Product Management, and Global Relationship teams to answer guideline questions and clear up issues.
Part of the job is to build strong knowledge of investment strategies, client mandates, and relevant regulations. You will also help maintain accurate guideline records and look for ways to streamline processes and improve day-to-day efficiency.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a closely related discipline is required. The employer is looking for candidates with at least 1 year of experience in investment operations, compliance, financial services, or a similar area; internship experience in a relevant setting may also be counted.
Applicants should have a basic understanding of investment products such as equities, fixed income, and derivatives. Experience with investment guideline monitoring, portfolio compliance, or regulatory frameworks is a plus, though not mandatory.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are important, along with sharp attention to detail. The role also calls for excellent organization, time management, independence, teamwork, and clear verbal and written communication. Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel and Word, are expected. Familiarity with SQL, Python, AI tools, or other data analysis technologies would be beneficial but is not essential.
