Role overview

MBIE is hiring investigators in Auckland to work on immigration compliance and investigation matters. This is a permanent opportunity within a growing, fast-moving environment focused on regulatory work informed by intelligence. The role involves examining serious and routine breaches of the Immigration Act and responding to non-compliance.

The team is part of Te Whakatairanga Service Delivery at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and helps prevent and address immigration-related offending and non-compliance.

What you will need

You should have a solid grasp of New Zealand legislation and how it applies to investigation and prosecution work. Experience supporting vulnerable complainants and witnesses through investigation and prosecution processes is important, along with strong communication, risk management, and confidentiality skills. The role also suits someone who is analytical and has experience planning and carrying out complex criminal investigations and prosecutions as part of a team.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $85,537 to $101,911, plus KiwiSaver and wellness benefits.
