Role Overview

The HSE Assistant will support the implementation and day-to-day upkeep of health, safety, and environmental practices across site and office settings. This role works closely with HSE Officers, Supervisors, and site management to strengthen compliance, maintain documentation, and help create a safer working environment.

Key Duties

  • Help put HSE policies, procedures, and company safety rules into practice at both site and office locations.
  • Back HSE Officers and Supervisors with daily inspections and checks on safety compliance.
  • Keep HSE files, reports, permits, inspection checklists, and training records accurate and up to date.
  • Take part in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness drives that encourage safe behavior.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and observations, then follow through on corrective actions.
  • Check that PPE is being used correctly and that workforce safety requirements are being followed.
  • Spot hazards and report unsafe actions, unsafe conditions, and near-miss events.
  • Support incident and accident investigations by gathering facts, preparing reports, and preserving records.
  • Assist in emergency readiness work such as drills, evacuation exercises, and checks of emergency equipment.
  • Work with supervisors and employees to ensure adherence to HSE laws, client expectations, and company procedures.
  • Monitor housekeeping and environmental compliance in all work areas.
  • Help maintain first aid resources, firefighting equipment logs, and emergency response documents.
  • Track safety inductions, HSE training attendance, and certification records for employees.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSE statistics and reports for management and clients.
  • Support permit-to-work activity by confirming that required safety paperwork is ready before work begins.
  • Ensure safety signage, barricades, and warning notices are in place and properly maintained.
  • Join site walkthroughs and share practical suggestions to improve workplace safety.
  • Coordinate HSE compliance expectations with contractors and subcontractors.
  • Carry out other HSE-related tasks assigned by the HSE Officer, HSE Manager, or site management.

Qualifications and Experience
