Role overview

This full-time, first-shift position is based in Londonderry, New Hampshire and follows a Monday through Friday schedule. For the first four months, the role runs on a 9/80 arrangement: over two workweeks, you work eight 9-hour days, one 8-hour day, and receive one scheduled day off. After that period, the schedule changes to a standard Monday to Friday workweek, with exact hours adjusted to match business requirements.

What the role involves

The Grinder / Polisher supports manufacturing output by grinding, polishing, sanding, deburring, and finishing metal parts so they meet the company’s quality expectations. The work includes finishing foils, statics, and similar components. The position also requires hands-on use of shop equipment such as a radial drill, Ellis saw, Bridgeport, Wazer waterjet, and a 50-ton hydraulic press. This role reports to the Operations Manager and works closely with other teams to help the plant meet production and quality targets.

Daily duties

• Keep the work area safe, orderly, and free of hazards while following all safety procedures
• Finish metal components by grinding, sanding, polishing, and deburring them to precise standards
• Use grinders, sanders, polishing tools, and other hand and power tools in a safe, effective manner
• Run shop equipment including a radial drill, Ellis saw, Bridgeport, Wazer waterjet, and 50-ton hydraulic press
• Check completed parts to confirm they match required quality and specification standards
• Work from job orders, blueprints, and production instructions accurately
• Move and handle raw materials and finished items carefully to prevent damage
• Help load, unload, and transport materials around the shop when needed
• Escalate defective materials, equipment problems, or safety issues to supervisors without delay
• Assist production and warehouse activities to keep schedules on track
• Maintain tools and equipment so they remain in good working condition
• Take part in safety training and follow all established workplace guidelines
• Coordinate with coworkers and other departments on day-to-day production tasks
• Carry out other assigned duties as needed

Skills and qualifications

The ideal candidate should already be familiar with grinding, polishing, sanding, and finishing methods, and be comfortable using hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and shop machinery safely. Prior exposure to a radial drill, Ellis saw, Bridgeport, Wazer waterjet, or hydraulic press is an advantage. The role calls for strong attention to detail, good organization, the ability to read work instructions and drawings, and a steady approach in a busy manufacturing setting. Reliability, teamwork, manual dexterity, and the physical ability to stand for long periods and lift more than 50 pounds are also important.

Education and experience

A high school diploma or GED is required. Experience with grinders, polishers, sanders, and related shop equipment is preferred.
