Overview

Auckland Council’s Data Solutions Practice uses location intelligence to help shape Auckland, operating an enterprise GIS that supports a broad set of internal and customer-facing solutions. The team is seeking a Geospatial Specialist to strengthen the quality, scope, and governance of geospatial data, systems, and workflows.

In this role, you will use Esri tools such as ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online, along with Safe Software FME, to help maintain and improve the geospatial platform using recognised industry practices. You will also support customer success by advising on how geospatial tools and data can be applied to solve business challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Help improve the reach, quality, and management of geospatial data, systems, and operational processes.
  • Maintain and support the geospatial platform using Esri technologies and Safe Software FME.
  • Apply industry best practice across enterprise GIS environments.
  • Provide practical guidance on using geospatial technology and data to address business needs.
  • Work with geospatial and IT teams to deliver outcomes for a wide range of customers.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of proven experience working with Esri and Safe technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise GIS platforms such as ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, Portal, and FME.
  • Capability to support ongoing improvements in geospatial systems, data handling, and related processes.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Clear spoken and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive, curious, and committed to delivering quality outcomes.
  • Exposure to Agile ways of working is an advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geospatial Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
