Fish Monger

Role summary

The Fish Monger will handle the preparation of fish products according to the store’s operational standards and food hygiene procedures. The position also includes weighing, packing, and displaying seafood items for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately wrap, weigh, label, and price fish portions in an efficient manner.
• Prepare, cut, and portion seafood products as per company guidelines and customer preferences.
• Set up and maintain appealing fish displays in line with presentation standards.
• Support customers by answering product-related questions courteously and promptly.
• Suggest complementary items and remain updated on current promotions and offers.
• Consistently comply with food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and health requirements.
• Use, clean, and sanitize fish preparation equipment and tools correctly.
• Check products daily and remove damaged, spoiled, or expired fish items from sale.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and understand basic English.
• High school education or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in a comparable role.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Comfortable working in a diverse, multicultural workplace.
• Good listening ability and strong attention to detail.
