Overview
A major consulting organisation in Dublin is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to take charge of sizable engineering groups and steer complex technology change programmes. The position blends senior technical leadership, delivery governance, client relationship management, and commercial responsibility to produce robust software outcomes.
You will collaborate with executive-level clients, architects, delivery leads, and cross-functional teams to help define technology direction, advance modern engineering approaches, and support digital innovation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide and grow high-performing software engineering teams across several client accounts and delivery initiatives.
- Oversee the full lifecycle delivery of enterprise software solutions, with responsibility for quality, security, scalability, deadlines, and budget control.
- Work with senior client leaders to shape technology roadmaps, digital transformation plans, and engineering operating models.
- Promote current engineering methods such as Agile delivery, DevSecOps, cloud-native design, CI/CD pipelines, and platform engineering.
- Contribute technical and commercial expertise to pre-sales work, proposals, solution shaping, and client-facing presentations.
- Coach engineering managers and senior technical leaders, encouraging innovation, teamwork, and ongoing improvement.
Candidate Profile
- You should have substantial experience in software engineering and technology delivery, including leadership of large, distributed engineering teams.
- Background in delivering enterprise-level digital transformation programmes in consulting, professional services, or similarly complex corporate settings is important.
- Strong knowledge of cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud is needed, together with familiarity with modern application architectures and engineering tools.
- Solid command of Agile methods, DevOps, delivery governance, and software engineering best practices is expected.
- You must be comfortable engaging C-suite executives and senior business stakeholders, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
