Role Overview

Scott Equipment Company is hiring a Designer/Drafter for its New Prague, Minnesota location. Position Purpose

This role is responsible for producing mechanical drawings for sales, project management, customer review, vendor coordination, and internal fabrication needs. The work must align with customer specifications and timelines so that accurate project drawings are delivered on schedule.

Key Accountabilities

• Create early-stage sales drawings from quotation details and provide them with the proposal to help support closing the order.
• Work with the Project Manager and salesperson to confirm order specifications.
• Prepare initial drawings based on the quoted design and technical requirements, and compare the drawings against the price quotation to ensure consistency.
• Share drawings with the Project Manager for customer approval, and revise them when customers request changes. After approval, prepare the bill of materials and forward it to the Purchasing Agent.
• Obtain vendor drawings and models for specific parts or devices included in the order or bill of materials.
• Compile product documentation such as parts lists, drawings, and detailed maintenance instructions so customers receive complete and accurate manuals and care information.
• Support the research and development of new products and contribute creative ideas for improving or extending existing equipment designs.
• Review orders in progress each week by coordinating with fabricators to identify design successes or issues.
• Enter all project information into PDM following Scott Equipment’s internal guidelines.
• Perform final inspections on completed products before shipment to confirm quality and customer requirements are met.
• Keep thorough records of drawings, design revisions, and related project details in the project folder.
