Role overview
Jacobs is looking for an Architecture Designer to contribute to advanced-facility projects that support mission-critical and high-performance environments. The role focuses on translating project inputs into robust architectural design solutions, BIM models, and drawing outputs for sectors such as pharmaceuticals, FMCG, and microelectronics.
The position sits within a team that works on facilities that enable smarter, more connected, and more sustainable operations. You will collaborate closely with process and lead architects, participate in coordination efforts, and help develop design deliverables through the full project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Interpret verbal directions, sketches, and electronic instructions from the Process Architect or Lead Architect and convert them into design alternatives, BIM models, and drawings.
- Work on advanced-facility projects for pharmaceutical, FMCG, microelectronics, and related R&D environments.
- Apply a sound understanding of pharmaceutical facility functions, including production areas, laboratories, utility buildings, and microelectronics spaces such as OSATs, FABs, and support areas.
- Incorporate GMP-related considerations into designs, including area classification, hazardous zoning, equipment layout, move-in planning, and construction sequencing, while taking guidance where needed from the Process Architect.
- Use knowledge of local planning standards, statutory rules, and safety-in-design principles while developing the design.
- Manage the BIM model through the required Level of Detail stages based on the project phase.
- Create architectural visual outputs such as rendered images, walkthroughs, and 3D-printed models using advanced visualization tools and plugins, and produce multiple options when needed.
- Take part in model review and clash-resolution meetings, and lead meetings during the early project stages until all disciplines are involved.
- Build, manage, and document Revit models from the ground up, including templates, parametric families, and model setup for drawing production.
- Support quantity extraction for architectural components and generate drawings from Revit models as per project needs.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience working on advanced facilities.
- Hands-on exposure to pharmaceutical, FMCG, or microelectronics facilities and their associated R&D environments.
- Strong understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, advanced 3D modeling, and parametric family creation.
- Ability to set up Revit models from scratch, prepare templates, and extract documentation and quantities with accuracy.
- Working knowledge of GMP requirements, statutory norms, local planning rules, and safety considerations in design.
- Capability to understand project inputs and transform them into practical design options and BIM deliverables.
- Comfort with model coordination, clash resolution, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- Qualification of a full-time Diploma in Architecture or a Bachelor of Architecture (5 years / 10 semesters) from a COA-recognized institution in India.
