Data Quality Developer

Role overview

A consulting organization is looking for a Data Quality Developer to contribute to a large government data transformation initiative in Abu Dhabi. The position is centered on creating, applying, and automating data quality checks across source systems, ETL/ELT workflows, and analytics platforms so that information remains accurate, complete, consistent, and dependable.

This is a 12-month onsite contract in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Key responsibilities

• Study and profile datasets to uncover data quality gaps in source systems.
• Create automated validation controls within ETL and ELT pipelines.
• Check schema updates, data types, constraints, and referential integrity rules.
• Spot and examine anomalies such as duplicates, missing records, and values outside expected ranges.
• Develop reusable data quality solutions with SQL, Python, or comparable tools.
• Set up automated reconciliation, regression testing, and validation routines.
• Track critical data pipelines and troubleshoot data quality incidents.
• Perform root-cause analysis and partner with engineering teams to fix issues.
• Record validation logic, business rules, and quality control procedures.
• Help define enterprise data quality standards, frameworks, and best practices.

Requirements

• Between 5 and 7 years of experience in data quality, data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related discipline.
• Practical experience in live production ETL/ELT environments.
• Proven ability to build automated data validation and quality control processes.
• Strong SQL skills for profiling, reconciliation, and validation work.
• Working knowledge of Python or another scripting language.
• Exposure to data warehouses, data lakes, and modern data platform environments.
• Experience with workflow orchestration and scheduled data pipelines.
• Strong diagnostic, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.
• Comfort working with Data Engineers, BI teams, and Analytics teams.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience using data quality products or frameworks.
• Background in government or large enterprise data settings.
• Familiarity with metadata management or data catalog tools.
• Understanding of statistical and rule-based validation methods.
• DAMA, CDMP, or data governance certifications are a plus.
