Role overview
This position acts as the main coordination hub for learning and development activities. The role focuses on organizing, administering, and supporting training initiatives that strengthen employee capability and contribute to operational performance. It involves partnering with department heads, supervisors, trainers, and HR to determine both technical and organizational learning needs, ensuring people have the right skills, competencies, and required certifications to work safely, effectively, and in line with operational and regulatory expectations.
The post also supports learning platforms, talent growth initiatives, and succession planning, while keeping training records accurate and ensuring smooth administration of the learning management system.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and help implement training programs that build the knowledge, technical ability, and safety competence employees need.
- Develop and arrange learning activities suited to the operational, technical, and safety demands of mining work.
- Work with department leaders and HR to identify training gaps linked to business goals and workforce capability, and help prepare annual and periodic training plans and calendars.
- Organize the end-to-end delivery of mine-related training, including scheduling, venue and material arrangements, attendance tracking, and issuing notices for both on-site and off-site sessions.
- Capture attendance and maintain strong administrative support for all training activities.
- Keep employee training profiles updated in the Learning Management System, allocate required compliance, technical, mandatory, and development courses, and follow up on completion.
- Maintain dependable training files and records, protect data accuracy, and prepare reports on training participation, progress, and compliance.
- Help review and improve training policies, procedures, and standards so they remain aligned with business needs and industry practice.
- Assist in evaluating training impact, suggest improvements to learning delivery and capability-building initiatives, and ensure all programs meet company, operational, and safety expectations.
- Support culture and capability projects, other organizational development activities, talent and succession review processes, succession pipelines, and provide line managers with up-to-date development and training reports.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Education, Training and Development, Psychology, Business Administration, or a similar field.
- At least 5 to 7 years of experience in training coordination, learning and development, or HR development within a large organization.
- Prior exposure to training in mining, industrial, construction, or other heavy operational environments is an advantage.
- Practical experience handling operational, technical, and safety training programs.
- Proven background in training administration, scheduling, and reporting.
- Hands-on use of Learning Management Systems and HR information systems.
- Experience contributing to talent development and succession planning work is beneficial.
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage shifting priorities.
- Capacity to assess training needs across departments on a regular basis.
- Ability to help develop and refresh training policies and standards according to industry best practice.
- Understanding of mining-related operational and safety training requirements.
- Knowledge of mandatory compliance and safety standards.
- Awareness of workforce capability requirements in an operational setting.
- Strong spoken and written English, along with customer service skills.
- Good command of Microsoft Word, Excel, and similar office tools.
- Comfort using office software and data management systems.
- Ability to spot errors and inconsistencies by checking records against source documents.
- Skill in building and maintaining effective working relationships and following established office procedures.
