About the organization

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is an internationally recognized biomedical and hospital research centre in Montreal, Quebec. As the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre and an affiliate of McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine, the institute is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS). This role supports a team working at the intersection of scientific discovery, innovation, and patient-focused medicine.

Role overview

Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Coordinator will provide administrative and logistical support for research activities and ongoing projects within the IDIGH department/research program. The role also serves as a key point of contact between the research team and other RI-MUHC departments.

What you will do

  • Manage the laboratory’s daily operations and keep activities running smoothly.
  • Assign, monitor, and review the work of others, while helping train team members.
  • Set priorities, build schedules, and coordinate project and service delivery.
  • Prepare quotations, handle account administration, and complete budget, purchase, and payment requests.
  • Suggest process improvements and help streamline unit efficiency.
  • Coordinate laboratory projects and related workflows.
  • Assist with budget preparation and upload grant administration documentation.
  • Format manuscripts and support submission processes.
  • Organize lab meetings and coordinate meetings with international sites.
  • Serve as a resource person, troubleshoot issues, and provide guidance to others.

Education and experience

A bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences is required, along with 6 months to 1 year of relevant work experience.

Language requirements

Advanced written French is required. Intermediate oral and written English is also necessary because the role involves regular communication and information processing with researchers and international students who work exclusively in English.

Additional information

This is a temporary position with a part-time workload of 21 hours per week, typically three days a week. The standard work shift runs Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The work site is 5252 de Maisonneuve Blvd., and the position may include a hybrid arrangement with both on-site and remote work.

Applicants who choose to include a cover letter should attach it together with their resume in a single document.

This is not a hospital position.

Compensation and benefits

Pay will be based on education and experience. Benefits include 6 days of paid sick leave per year, with up to 3 personal days; vacation calculated on a pro-rata basis as a percentage of salary; a modular group insurance plan with gender affirmation coverage; membership in the RREGOP government pension plan; and 5.3% of gross earnings added to each paycheque in place of statutory holidays.

Equal opportunity statement

The RI-MUHC is committed to merit-based hiring and to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion. Applications are welcome from qualified candidates who identify as members of racialized groups or visible minorities, women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Candidates with the ability to engage constructively with diverse communities are also encouraged to apply. Applicants who may need accommodations during the application process can contact research.talent@muhc.mcgill.ca confidentially.
