Role overview
We are seeking a Controller for a U.S.-based role supporting a fast-growing, AI-enabled healthcare technology business operating across multiple regions. This position owns the global accounting function and is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening controls, and ensuring the organization is prepared for public-company standards. The role combines strategic oversight with day-to-day execution and works closely with senior Finance leaders, Audit Committee members, and cross-functional stakeholders.
The right candidate will help build a scalable accounting infrastructure that can support international expansion, more complex revenue arrangements, and continued operational growth. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape a mission-driven finance function at an early, transformative stage.
Key accountabilities
- Direct global accounting activities while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, proper ASC 606 revenue treatment, and accurate consolidated reporting for U.S. and European entities.
- Own month-end and year-end close cycles, safeguarding general ledger accuracy, intercompany accounting, and overall reporting quality.
- Design, document, and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and procedures that support audit readiness and public-company expectations.
- Coordinate external audit work, serve as the main contact for auditors, and make sure disclosures are delivered accurately and on time.
- Work alongside FP&A and operational teams to evaluate revenue, spending patterns, and business performance across the company.
- Improve accounting scalability by enhancing systems, streamlining workflows, and expanding automation across AP, AR, payroll, and reporting.
- Lead, coach, and develop a distributed accounting team across regions, promoting accountability, growth, and operational excellence.
- Assist with tax compliance, technical accounting analysis, and strategic projects such as M&A, fundraising, and equity-related transactions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA or an equivalent credential is strongly favored.
- At least 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3 or more years in a leadership position managing teams.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, and consolidation across multiple entities or international operations.
- Proven experience managing external audits and building internal control frameworks; exposure to IPO readiness or SOX compliance is highly desirable.
- Experience in fast-scaling startup or scale-up environments with more complex accounting needs.
- Practical expertise across AP, AR, payroll, revenue operations, tax, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical ability with a track record of improving processes, systems, and close timelines.
- Experience working across several countries or entities, ideally including both U.S. and European operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills in dynamic, high-growth settings.
Benefits and perks
- Competitive compensation package suited to senior finance leadership.
- Equity opportunity with potential long-term upside.
- Remote-first work model with flexibility.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- Life, AD&D, and supplemental insurance benefits.
- 401(k) retirement plan plus access to financial advisory support.
- Generous discretionary PTO, paid holidays, and parental leave.
- Health savings account and employee wellness offerings, including digital therapy access.
- Chance to contribute to a mission-focused company transforming healthcare with AI.
