This opportunity is for someone who enjoys supporting adults with developmental disabilities, promoting dignity and independence, and contributing positively to daily life and community participation.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll deliver quality support to adults with developmental disabilities living in the community. You’ll help with everyday living tasks, social and recreational activities, and individualized supports that encourage empowerment and self-reliance. The work may also involve assisting people with mental health challenges, carrying out programs designed around individual needs, and using a calm, creative, and energetic approach when supporting people with complex needs.
The programs run around the clock, so the role includes shift work and weekends.
Required Qualifications
You should have at least Grade 12 education. A diploma or degree in Disability Services, Social Work, Human Services, or a closely related field is considered an advantage. You also need a minimum of 6 months’ experience supporting people with developmental disabilities.
Additional requirements include valid Emergency First Aid and CPR certification, a current Vulnerable Sector Check from a local RCMP or city police detachment, a clear and up-to-date driver’s abstract, and access to a vehicle with a valid Class 5 driver’s licence because clients must be transported in your personal vehicle. You must also provide proof of vehicle insurance with $2 million liability coverage and proof of registration for the insured vehicle. Knowledge of community events is an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.30 to $20.48 per hour, depending on your qualifications and experience. Benefits are available when eligibility criteria are met. You’ll be part of a collaborative, team-focused workplace where your input is valued and your work has a visible impact.
