Role Summary
This is a full-time remote position for a Coding Tutor working across UK and USA time zones. The role involves teaching coding live to children and teenagers, helping them understand foundational programming ideas, complete coding tasks, build projects, and take assessments.
Key Responsibilities
The tutor will prepare lesson plans based on FcC’s curriculum, deliver engaging classes suited to different age groups, and give personalized feedback to help learners improve their problem-solving, logical reasoning, and computational thinking. The role also includes tracking student progress, updating parents or guardians when needed, and working with the academic team to enhance teaching content and delivery. Additional duties may involve developing practice exercises, improving curriculum material, and joining training sessions or team meetings.
Requirements
- Solid programming knowledge in one or more commonly taught languages such as Scratch, Python, JavaScript, Java, or similar tools.
- Background in teaching or tutoring children and teenagers in coding or STEM-related subjects, ideally in an online or blended setup.
- Ability to simplify technical ideas and present them in a clear, engaging way for different age groups and ability levels.
- Strong communication, classroom management, and people skills with a learner-focused and inclusive approach.
- Comfort using online teaching platforms, education technology, and digital collaboration tools.
- Good planning and organization skills, including lesson preparation and progress tracking across multiple classes.
- Availability for UK and USA shifts, including evenings or weekends depending on class timing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Education, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience with curriculum design, after-school programs, or academic competition coaching is an added advantage.
- Commitment to maintaining a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
