About the company

OpenText is a global information management company known for working with leading enterprises on complex digital transformation challenges. The organization emphasizes innovation, creativity, and collaboration, and places artificial intelligence at the center of its approach to building future-ready solutions.

As part of the Cork, Ireland team, you will help strengthen reliable hybrid and cloud platforms through advanced observability, monitoring, and alerting practices.

Role overview

In this position, you will design, run, and continuously improve the monitoring and observability environment across hybrid and cloud infrastructures. The role focuses on dependable platform operations, meaningful alerts, strong log and metrics flows, and close coordination with the NOC, all while working within ITIL-based processes for incident, problem, change, and configuration management.

Key responsibilities

  • Configure, support, and maintain monitoring and alerting platforms such as Operations Bridge Manager (OBM), Network Node Manager (NNMi), Zabbix, Prometheus, and Graylog.
  • Create and manage service-level indicators and objectives, with attention to alert accuracy and quality.
  • Develop dashboards and views that show service health clearly.
  • Work with the NOC to ensure alerts are routed correctly and escalated in a timely way.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for production-critical systems and contribute to post-incident reviews.
  • Install, upgrade, and operate observability tooling in Linux and Kubernetes environments.
  • Automate monitoring-related work using Python, Bash, Terraform, or Ansible.
  • Maintain pipelines for logs and metrics.
  • Connect observability and monitoring workflows with ITSM tools for incident, change, and CMDB processes.
  • Follow ITIL best practices and keep documentation up to date.

Required skills and experience

You should have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field, along with at least 2 years of relevant experience. A solid grasp of system administration, hybrid application environments, monitoring concepts, and ITIL processes is important.

Hands-on experience with observability, monitoring, log aggregation, and automation platforms is expected, especially with Zabbix, OBM, NNMi, Graylog, and Ansible. You should also understand SRE practices such as SLIs/SLOs, incident handling, and postmortems.

Linux administration skills and practical knowledge of Kubernetes, including open source setups and cloud-managed options like GKE or EKS, are needed. Strong scripting ability in Python and Bash, along with infrastructure-as-code experience using Terraform and Ansible, is also required.

Additional technical knowledge includes CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, networking basics such as TCP/IP, SNMP, DNS, Syslog, and APIs, plus familiarity with observability platforms like New Relic and Dynatrace. A basic understanding of AI and machine learning concepts, along with the ability to use LLM-based tools for troubleshooting, documentation, and automation ideas, is also part of the role.

Preferred exposure includes OpenTelemetry, OpsBridge Aviator, SMAX integrations, AIOps, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Grafana, cloud monitoring on AWS/GCP/Azure, security operations, Kafka or AMQP pipelines, and programming in Go or Java.
