About the Role
An experienced Carpet Tufter Tuner is required to join the production team. In this position, you will take charge of machine changeovers and investigate machine-related quality issues. The role involves working in a fast-moving production setting where specifications and yarn types change frequently across different machines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare tufting machines to match production requirements, including yarn threading, needle bar adjustments, and pattern updates.
- Carry out blade swaps, needle replacements, tube changes, and similar machine adjustments.
- Monitor and control stock levels of gauge parts.
- Carry out important maintenance duties and support ongoing machine reliability.
- Attend to machine faults and breakdowns promptly.
- Look for ways to improve equipment performance and production methods.
- Work closely with machine operators to maintain correct operation and product quality.
- Record setup details, maintenance work, and production changes accurately.
- Work in line with safety rules and internal company procedures.
- Support the onboarding and coaching of new operators or technicians when required.
- Keep the work area tidy, organised, and safe.
- Follow all health, safety, and production guidelines.
- Help maintain smooth workflow and meet production targets.
- Escalate any safety, quality, or output concerns to the supervisor without delay.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Carpet Tufter Tuner or mechanic in the textile manufacturing sector.
- A relevant mechanical trade qualification.
- Strong analytical ability and a structured, methodical working style.
- Good troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong numerical ability.
- Ability to train and guide other staff members.
- Sound understanding of health and safety rules and best practice.
- Ability to manage priorities and perform well under pressure.
- Someone who takes the initiative, solves problems quickly, and acts safely.
- A reliable person who arrives on time and works dependably.
- Comfortable working independently as well as in a team environment.
- Committed to safe working practices and doing the job properly.
Working Hours
The standard schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. There may be occasional Saturday work, which would count as overtime if needed. The factory also sometimes operates evening shifts, so you may occasionally be required to cover a later shift.
