Role Scope

Depending on the project, contributors may be asked to build original computational biology challenges that reflect real research-style workflows, especially tasks that require Python to solve using libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, and BioPython. The work is intended to be too complex for manual solving within a reasonable period, often taking days or weeks to reason through. Problems should involve deeper analytical thinking across bioinformatics, systems biology, and molecular modeling, and should be grounded in real-world biological research or practical applications. Contributors will also validate solutions with Python-based tools, document the task clearly, and supply confirmed correct answers.

Candidate Profile

This role suits biology professionals who also have Python experience and are open to part-time, non-permanent project work. A strong match would typically include a degree in Biology or a related field, working knowledge of Python for numerical validation, and equivalent familiarity with tools or languages such as MATLAB, R, C, SQL, NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Stata, or other programming environments. The role calls for at least 2 years of professional experience, which may come from applied work, research, or teaching. Candidates should also have experience analyzing biological data and algorithms, plus familiarity with bioinformatics tools and computational methods. Strong written English at C1 level or above is expected.

Working Model

The process is: apply, complete the qualification stage, join a project, complete assigned tasks, and receive payment.

Time Commitment

During active project periods, the expected workload is about 10 to 20 hours per week. This is only an estimate and is not guaranteed, and it applies only while a project is active.

Compensation

Contributors may earn up to the equivalent of $35 per hour, depending on skill level and contribution pace. Pay can vary by project based on scope, complexity, and expertise requirements.
